GUERNSEY COUNTY, Ohio (AVC News) — A synchronized drone show honoring America’s 250th anniversary and the 25th anniversary of Sept. 11 will take place Saturday, Sept. 12, at Salt Fork State Park Lodge.
The event, called “Remember, Lights in the Sky,” is being hosted by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and Great Ohio Lodges. The statewide celebration will feature synchronized illuminated drone shows at nine Ohio state park lodges beginning at 9 p.m.
At Salt Fork, the drone show will be the finale of a full day of family activities. The best viewing area for the show will be on the north side of the lodge.
Most activities are free and open to the public.
The weekend begins Friday, Sept. 11, with S.A.F.E. Archery from 4 to 9 p.m., the Route 40 Band from 5 to 7 p.m. and a movie night from 8 to 10 p.m.
Saturday’s activities include a 21-gun salute at 11 a.m., bounce houses from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., a touch-a-truck event from noon to 3 p.m., and a kids zone featuring games, face painting, crafts and a coloring contest from noon to 4 p.m.
A tie-dye activity will be held from 2 to 4 p.m., followed by live music from Two of Us from 4 to 7 p.m. and a cornhole tournament from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
AVC Communications will also provide a live broadcast from the event from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.!
Following the drone show, s’mores will be available at the back lawn patio beginning at 9:15 p.m.
A golf special will also be available, offering two 18-hole rounds with a cart for $65 for the first 25 participants.
The “Remember, Lights in the Sky” drone show will feature illuminated formations, patriotic symbols and visual storytelling designed as a tribute to service, sacrifice and the nation.
ODNR officials are encouraging Ohioans to visit one of the participating lodges and enjoy the surrounding state parks as part of the celebration.
