CAMBRIDGE, Ohio (AVC News) — A Cambridge man faces a second-degree felony charge following a joint law enforcement investigation into severe injuries suffered by a 7-month-old infant.
Phillip Loschiavo, 22, was arrested and charged with one count of felonious assault, Guernsey County Sheriff Jeffrey Paden announced.
The investigation began when detectives with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office received reports of an infant who had sustained potentially life-threatening injuries. During their initial probe, Washington County detectives uncovered evidence indicating the injuries occurred at a residence on Cadiz Road in Guernsey County.
Detectives from both the Washington County and Guernsey County sheriff’s offices joined forces to pursue the case. Following interviews and further investigative efforts, authorities identified Loschiavo as the suspect and determined the injuries took place within Guernsey County.
Loschiavo was brought to the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office for questioning before being arrested and transported to the Guernsey County Jail.
Sheriff Paden commended the multi-agency collaboration that led to the arrest.
“This investigation is an excellent example of the importance of cooperation between law enforcement agencies,” Paden said. “We greatly appreciate the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau for continuing to work alongside our investigators. Most importantly, our focus remains on seeking justice for this young victim.”
The case remains under active investigation. Sheriff Paden noted that additional charges may be presented to a Guernsey County grand jury as the case progresses.
