NEW LEXINGTON, Ohio (AVC News) — A Perry County man has been indicted on 28 felony charges following an investigation that authorities say uncovered more than 120,000 files containing images and videos of child sexual abuse material.
Joseph M. Jones was arrested Aug. 28 following an investigation led by Sgt. Jackson of the Perry County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit.
According to the sheriff’s office, investigators found more than 120,000 files containing images and videos of child sexual abuse material in Jones’ possession.
A Perry County grand jury indicted Jones on Sept. 21 on 16 counts of pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor, according to the sheriff’s office.
Jones also faces 12 additional felony charges related to tampering and failure to register.
The sheriff’s office said Jones is a previously registered sex offender and is currently being held at the Southeast Regional Jail on a $1.5 million bond.
The case remains pending in Perry County.
The charges and allegations contained in the indictment are not convictions, and Jones is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
