Noble County Reviews Road Paving And Several Demolition Projects

CALDWELL, Ohio (AVC News) — Noble County officials received updates on a county road paving project, several planned demolitions and restoration work at the Woody Hayes cabin.

The commissioners learned that paving is underway on Grant Moore Road (County Road 16). SAORSA Construction of New Concord is handling the paving, with the Ohio Department of Transportation administering the project under the supervision of Scott Stritz.

Funding came through a grant submitted by Noble County Engineer Todd Coss to the Ohio Department of Public Works.

Kate Dunn, a senior planner with Buckeye Hills, and Donald Pinto of T&M Associates told commissioners that contracts have been awarded for demolition of the St. Michaels Church rectory in Carlisle.

H&H Environmental will handle asbestos removal, while Crock Construction will perform the demolition. Work is expected to begin soon. The project is funded through an Ohio Department of Development Brownfield Demolition Grant.

Dunn also reported that she has applied for an Ohio Department of Development brownfield grant to demolish the former Summerfield School.

For the former Sharon General Store, engineer responses are due Friday, after which the project will move into the bidding process. Demolition could begin by Jan. 1.

Brandon Crock of Crock Construction also reported that the final steps toward restoring the interior of the Woody Hayes cabin are underway.
