GAHANNA, Ohio (AVC News) — AEP Ohio will begin operating under the Ohio Power Company name Oct. 1 as the company introduces a redesigned electric bill intended to provide customers with clearer information about their electric service and costs.
Customers will begin seeing the Ohio Power Company name on the company’s website, bills, customer communications and other materials.
The change reflects the company’s existing legal name and will affect about 1.5 million customers across Ohio.
The company also will begin sending customers a redesigned monthly electric bill in October.
The new format, approved earlier this year by the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio, is designed to make it easier for customers to understand the charges on their bills, identify their electricity generation supplier and see how distribution, transmission and generation costs contribute to the total bill. The bill also will include monthly energy-use information.
The transition will not affect customers’ electric service, account information, rates or how they contact the company.
The company’s website, AEPOhio.com, will transition to OhioPowerCo.com in October, with visitors automatically redirected to the new site.
