MARIETTA, Ohio (AVC News) – Buckeye Hills Regional Council will join community leaders, project partners, and residents next week for two ribbon celebrations.
The celebrations will recognize the more than $11 million in investments through the Ohio Department of Development’s Appalachian Community Grant Program to transform public spaces in the community.
The first ribbon cutting will be held at 10:30 a.m. September 8 at the Marietta Levee to celebrate the completion of the $9.4 million Marietta Levee Park Improvements project.
The project improved a section of Marietta’s riverfront through improvements designed to enhance accessibility and public gathering spaces.
The next ribbon cutting ceremony will be held later in the day at 1 p.m. at Chauncy Village Hall to recognize the completion of the $1.9 million Chauncy Downtown Revitalization Project.
The project improved downtown with infrastructure upgrades and streetscape improvements, including new curbs, sidewalks, paving and landscaping. The project also includes two new murals, including one honoring the region’s coal mining history and the community’s Appalachian heritage.
Members of the public are invited to celebrate the monumental improvements to revitalize the community.
