ZANESVILLE, Ohio (AVC News) – A man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison on four criminal cases in Muskingum County.

28-year-old Kyle West has been charged for armed robbery, illegal possession of a weapon, drugs, and assaulting an inmate while in prison.

The Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office began investigating a report of a stolen handgun earlier this month, which was traced back to surveillance footage of an armed robbery in Walmart where jewelry was stolen from a display case.

Officers were able to track down West, and a forensic examination of his cellphone recovered video evidence of West holding the stolen gun.

While incarcerated, Kyle West began an altercation with an inmate and attacked the man.

West was also convicted of possession of Ketamine in a separate case. He has a previous history of theft, breaking and entering, and burglary.

Muskingum County Judge Kelly Cottrill ordered West’s sentences to be served consecutively, for a total of 15 years in prison.
