NASHPORT, Ohio (AVC News) — The Ohio Department of Natural Resources celebrated the completion of several improvements at Dillon State Park’s beach area Friday, including new recreation amenities and accessibility upgrades.
The project includes a new splash pad and shelter house, providing additional recreation and shaded gathering space for visitors.
The former spray pool was replaced with an ADA-accessible lake-view plaza featuring two cantilever shade structures. New seating for the plaza is expected to be installed following the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The park’s restroom building was also completely remodeled with full ADA accessibility, along with updated finishes and fixtures.
Other improvements include resurfaced tennis and basketball courts. The tennis courts also received a new netting system.
The former sand volleyball court was converted into two pickleball courts, expanding the park’s recreational offerings.
“Dillon State Park is already a cherished destination, and these improvements make it an even more welcoming place for visitors of all ages,” ODNR Director Mary Mertz said. “From the new splash pad to upgraded courts and accessible facilities, we’re creating spaces where families and friends can play, relax, and connect.”
Dillon State Park is located along the Licking River and offers boating, fishing, camping, mountain biking, stargazing, sledding and other outdoor recreation. The park also has a marina, multiple boat launch ramps and an ADA-compliant playground.
The beach-area improvements are part of an investment in one of the park’s most popular recreational areas, according to ODNR.
