CADIZ, Ohio (AVC News) — A Harrison County man was sentenced to 24 years to life in prison for fatally shooting a New Philadelphia man in April 2025, according to Ohio Attorney General Andy Wilson.
Mickey Green, 63, of Tippecanoe, was sentenced following his Sept. 3 conviction in Harrison County Common Pleas Court.
A jury found Green guilty after a three-day trial of two counts of murder and one count each of felonious assault and discharging a firearm on or near prohibited premises.
The shooting occurred April 5, 2025, near Green’s property at the intersection of Norris Road and Moravian Trail Road.
Steven Andrews, 50, was driving a tanker truck through the intersection when Green yelled at him for driving onto the edge of his lawn. Andrews stopped the truck, got out and walked toward Green.
As Andrews approached, Green drew a handgun and shot Andrews in the head. Andrews was unarmed.
Green argued at trial that he acted in self-defense. The jury rejected that claim and found him guilty of murder.
Green will be required to register as a violent offender if he is released from prison.
The Harrison County Sheriff’s Office investigated the case. The Special Prosecutions Section of the Ohio Attorney General’s Office prosecuted the case.
