CALDWELL, Ohio (AVC News) — The 2026-27 school year is off to a positive start in the Noble Local School District, according to Superintendent Justin Denius.
Denius told the Noble Local Board of Education Thursday that the school year, which began Sept. 8, has received positive comments from students, staff and the community.
The new addition to Shenandoah High School opened with the school year. The addition includes eight classrooms for seventh- and eighth-grade students, a medical center and administrative offices.
“We’re very pleased with the possibilities the new addition brings,” Denius said.
The seventh- and eighth-grade students now have a designated section within the high school while continuing to use other areas of the building for classes and activities. The additional space also provides more room for students in kindergarten through sixth grade at the elementary school.
Denius said the new medical center is expected to open around Oct. 1.
Two Shenandoah High School graduates, Dr. Clayton Spencer and Jacob Biedenbach, will be part of the medical center staff. Memorial Services of Marietta will provide overall supervision of the center, according to Denius.
During the meeting, the board approved an agreement designating McKinley Architecture and Engineering as owner representatives for future projects.
AJB Engineering and Energy Optimizers were approved as general contractors for Phase Ten renovations at both schools. Denius said the work is expected to be the final phase of renovations at the schools.
The board also approved several student activities and personnel matters.
The Shenandoah FFA was approved to attend the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis from Oct. 21-24. An eighth-grade trip to Washington, D.C., was approved for May 4-6.
Rissa Eddy was awarded a one-year certified contract as a high school consumer science teacher.
The board approved the retirement/resignation of Julie Moore as EMIS coordinator and maternity leave for B. Barker.
Ryan Rusnak, Dakota Rahman and Candy Hathaway were added to the substitute teacher list. Kenneth “Danny” Hickman was added as a substitute food service employee, and Like Archer was added to the substitute bus driver list.
