ZANESVILLE, Ohio (AVC News) — A Zanesville man who admitted to strangling and restraining a woman during a domestic violence incident has been sentenced to four years in prison.
Tanner Greiner, 21, appeared before Muskingum County Common Pleas Court Judge Kelly Cottrill for sentencing after pleading guilty to kidnapping, a second-degree felony, and domestic violence, a first-degree misdemeanor.
Cottrill sentenced Greiner to four years in prison. He was also ordered to register as a violent offender for 10 years following his release.
The case began after the Zanesville Police Department received a report from a woman who said Greiner assaulted her during an argument. The woman reported that Greiner slapped her, grabbed her and held her down before strangling her.
Assistant Muskingum County Prosecutor Warren Edwards prosecuted the case.
The prosecutor’s office encouraged victims of domestic violence to report abuse to law enforcement and seek assistance from local victim-service organizations.
