STEUBENVILLE, Ohio (AVC News) — One person was killed Sunday night in a two-vehicle crash in Jefferson County.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said the crash happened on County Road 10, about two-tenths of a mile west of State Route 152 in Smithfield Township.
According to the Highway Patrol, 28-year-old Harley Crawford of Adena was traveling west on County Road 10 in a vehicle when a truck traveling east failed to negotiate a curve. The truck, driven by 27-year-old Matthew DiLoreto of Mingo Junction, went off the road, overcorrected and crossed the centerline.
The right side of the truck struck the right front of the vehicle.
The truck continued off the road and came to rest in a ditch. The vehicle remained in the westbound lane and partially off the roadway.
Corey Shetler, 29, of Dillonvale, was a passenger in a vehicle and passed away from injuries sustained in the crash. He was pronounced deceased that night.
The Highway Patrol identified alcohol as a contributing factor in the crash.
The investigation remains ongoing.
Several local fire, EMS and law enforcement agencies assisted at the scene, along with the Ohio Investigative Unit.
