CAMBRIDGE, Ohio (AVC News) — Ohio’s 2025-26 School Report Cards are now available, providing information on academic achievement, student progress, graduation, attendance, post-graduation readiness and other measures for schools across the state.
AVC News reviewed the report cards for 20 high schools throughout its Southeast Ohio listening area. The schools received overall ratings ranging from 2.5 to 4 stars.
Ohio’s report card system uses a five-star scale, including half-star increments. The overall rating is based on six components: Achievement, Progress, Gap Closing, Early Literacy, Graduation and College, Career, Workforce and Military Readiness.
For high schools, the Early Literacy component does not receive a rating because it measures reading improvement and proficiency among students in kindergarten through third grade.
The Achievement component measures how well students perform on state tests, while Progress measures academic growth based on students’ previous performance. Gap Closing measures performance and progress among student groups, Graduation measures four- and five-year graduation rates, and the College, Career, Workforce and Military Readiness component measures preparation for students’ next steps after high school.
Among the 20 schools reviewed, Meadowbrook and Tri-Valley received overall ratings of 4 stars, seven schools received overall ratings of 3.5 stars, six schools received overall ratings of 3 stars, and two schools received overall ratings of 2.5 stars.

The report cards provide a collection of performance measures but are not intended to represent the entirety of a school’s educational experience. The Ohio Department of Education and Workforce notes that report cards are one part of the state’s education story and encourages parents, caregivers and community members to also visit schools, speak with educators, parents and students and review school and district information.
