CALDWELL, Ohio (AVC News) — The Noble County Board of Commissioners received updates on several projects and programs during a recent meeting, including construction at Halley’s Ridge Cemetery, public health concerns and public transportation services.
Dawn Gutberlet, with Noble County Extension Economic Development, told commissioners construction of a new pavilion at Halley’s Ridge Cemetery is nearing completion. Larry Lang Excavating of Beverly is serving as the general contractor on the project, which is being funded through 2024 and 2025 Community Development Block Grant dollars.
Commissioners also approved transferring $42,000 from the county’s unclaimed funds account to the general fund.
Representatives from the Noble County Health Department met with commissioners to discuss proposed changes to subdivision regulations. During the meeting, Health Department officials also reminded residents to take precautions against cyclosporiasis, a parasitic illness. Officials recommend washing hands thoroughly, cleaning all produce, scrubbing firm fruits and vegetables, and consuming washed produce promptly.
Buckeye Hills mobility managers Julie Hinzman and Kelly Isaly also updated commissioners on Buckeye Southeast Transit services in Noble County. They reported the system now operates seven vehicles and has 33 grocery carts available to help riders transport groceries and other purchases.
The mobility managers also announced a CarFit event will be held Sept. 17 at Altercare Integrated Health Services, formerly Summit Acres. The free program helps older drivers improve the fit of their vehicles to enhance safety and comfort.
