NEW LEXINGTON, Ohio (AVC News) — More than 50 law enforcement officers from across southeast and central Ohio gathered in New Lexington this week for a regional training event hosted by the New Lexington Police Department.
Officers from agencies in Athens, Hocking, Licking, Muskingum, Perry and Tuscarawas counties, along with the Ohio State Highway Patrol, participated in the day-long training.
The event featured presentations from the FBI, Ohio Homeland Security, the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles, the Ohio Traffic Safety Office and Magloclen. Topics focused on improving officer awareness and providing information to assist law enforcement during traffic enforcement and other public safety encounters.
The training was provided at no cost to participating agencies.
New Lexington police credited Chris of the Ohio Traffic Safety Office for helping organize the event and thanked the Perry County Police Chiefs Association for its support. Perry Behavioral Health provided its Activity Center as the training site, while Valor Technical Cleaning donated lunch for attendees.
Police officials said the training highlighted the importance of continuing education, regional cooperation and partnerships that help keep Ohio communities safe.
