SARAHSVILLE, Ohio–(AVC News)—- The students of the Noble Local School District will spend their first day in class Tuesday, September 8.
Superintendent Justin Denius made this announcement at the regular meeting of the Noble Local School Board Thursday evening, August 20.
The start of school for students has been delayed due to construction not being completed at the new addition to Shenandoah High School.
Rainy weather has also wreaked havoc on scheduling school activities. Denius had high praise for new athletic director Trey Engle. “Trey has done a first rate job in juggling times and locations of athletic events due to the unusually heavy rains we’ve experienced.” Denius declared.
The Zeps’ first home varsity football game against Zanesville Rosecrans has been moved to Meadowbrook High School Friday evening at 7:00 pm. The Shenandoah football field was flooded as of Thursday evening.
It was announced that Shenandoah High School was designated as an American Red Cross Disaster Center.
Andrea Hannum, treasurer and chief financial officer for the district, gave her three-year forecast during the meeting. She announced the cash balance had improved by five million dollars from her previous forecast in February.
Substitute pay rates were established. They are $150 per day for teachers, $30 per hour for tutors, $20 per hour for drivers, and $13 per hour for aides, cooks, secretaries, and custodians.
Added to the substitute lists were Tammy Guy, Kathy Antill, and Elizabeth Snyder as teachers, Andrea Palagyi and April Noll as food service workers, Taylor Bardell as a nurse, and Elizabeth Snyder as an aide.
Resignations were accepted from Madison Heddleson as elementary yearbook advisor, Corey Brown as assistant football coach and Luke Cutlip as assistant football volunteer. Shelby Williams was awarded a one-year contract as bus driver while Dan Spiker was awarded a one-year contract as elementary custodian.
Supplemental contracts were awarded to Kimberly Snyder as elementary yearbook adviser, Luke Cutlip as assistant football coach, and Luke Neff and Carsten Smith as junior high basketball coaches. David Pickenpaugh and Corey Brown were approved as high school football volunteers.
Carrie Winland, Eric Van Fleet, Katie Speelman, and Shon Miller were approved as mentors.
