ZANESVILLE, Ohio (AVC News) — A Columbus man has been convicted of seven felony counts following a two-day jury trial in Muskingum County Common Pleas Court.
Vintrel Cloud, 26, was found guilty by a Muskingum County jury Wednesday after hearing testimony and evidence presented before Judge Gerald Anderson.
Cloud was on probation in Franklin County at the time of the offenses. His criminal record includes convictions or adjudications involving two stolen vehicles, two aggravated robberies and two cases involving illegal possession of firearms.
The case began in June 2024 when Muskingum County Sheriff’s Deputy Austin Alice conducted a traffic stop in the Fultonham area. Cloud was a passenger in the vehicle.
During the stop, Alice discovered a case containing a large quantity of drugs. Investigators also found Cloud in possession of a digital scale, with the lid to the scale located inside the case containing the drugs.
Cloud denied ownership of the drugs, but investigators later obtained a search warrant for his cellphone. According to prosecutors, text messages recovered from the phone documented Cloud’s ongoing sales of methamphetamine, cocaine and fentanyl.
The jury convicted Cloud on all seven felony counts after two days of testimony. He faces more than 13 years in prison and will be sentenced at a later date.
