Leanna Grace Horton, 92 of Zanesville
Leanna Grace Horton, 92, of Zanesville, passed away peacefully with the loving presence of her family all around her in her home on Saturday, September 5, 2026. She was born on June 20, 1934, in Summerfield, Ohio, to the late Otto Benjamin and Ida Mae (Eschbaugh) Carpenter.
Leanna was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Willard Horton, with whom she shared many cherished years.
Leanna worked as a cleaner and in housekeeping at Dillon State Park. She was a woman who found joy in the simple things in life, especially those moments spent surrounded by the people she loved. She especially enjoyed family holidays, Christmas shopping, spending time with her family, playing euchre, and having cookouts.
Those who knew Leanna will remember her for her warm and welcoming nature. She never met a stranger and had a special way of making friends wherever she went. Her kindness, laughter, and genuine love for others touched the lives of many, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Leanna is survived by her three daughters, Cristy (Robert) Helser, Rhonda (John) Parker, and Tami Horton; her grandchildren, Whitney (Bruce) Schroeder, Mandy (Kyle) Haning, and Lexie Horton; and her great-grandchildren, Clara Mae Haning, Levi Bruce Haning, and Sophie Grace Haning. She is also survived by her sister, Linda Warner, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, James, Leanna was preceded in death by her sister, Kat Keylor, and her brother, Dwight Carpenter; as well as her nephews, Jamie, Julian, and Ned Shreves.
Leanna leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love and family. Her greatest treasures were the people she loved, and the memories she created with them will remain in their hearts forever. Though she will be greatly missed, her love, kindness, and the many happy memories she gave to her family will continue to live on.
