CALDWELL, Ohio (AVC News) — The two remaining covered bridges in Noble County have been painted as county officials continue efforts to preserve the historic structures.
The Noble County Commissioners recently announced that the Parrish Bridge and Manchester Bridge, both located in Sharon Township, received new paint. The commissioners hired Chandler Warner to complete the work.
During their meeting, commissioners also approved updated language for transfer and conveyance standards related to subdivision regulations.
The changes include requiring surveyor input before any annexation, prohibiting new tracts of land without frontage on a public road or roadway, and requiring a survey for all lot splits.
Noble County Judge Jennifer Arnold informed commissioners she needs an additional $2,500 added to her budget for competency hearings.
Jennifer Mackie, executive director of GMN Tri-County Community Action, and Lisa Carpenter told commissioners their agency is participating in a code of conduct contract.
Noble County Engineer Todd Coss reported a bridge on Smithberger Road (Township Road 332) in Stock Township is currently down.
Veronica Bender, general manager of the Happy Time Pool at the Noble County Fairgrounds, told commissioners the facility’s feature pump had failed. County Maintenance Supervisor Daniel Archer repaired the pump by welding it, but Bender said a replacement pump will eventually be needed.
Misty Wells, executive director of the Noble County Department of Job and Family Services, reminded commissioners that the annual Wrap Up to Summer Fun Day will be held Saturday, Aug. 8, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Caldwell Lake Pavilion.
Families attending are encouraged to bring school supplies that will be distributed during the event.
Wells also said the agency continues to seek foster parents, with two families currently completing training.
