WASHINGTON, D.C. (AVC News) — The U.S. House Budget Committee has advanced a budget resolution outlining federal spending priorities and budget enforcement rules for fiscal year 2027.

The 47-page resolution does not fund government programs directly but establishes spending targets and procedures that lawmakers will use when considering future appropriations bills.
Among the provisions included in the resolution:
- Disaster relief funding could receive budget adjustments for costs related to federally declared disasters, subject to limits established under federal budget law.
- Up to $2.95 billion could be designated for wildfire suppression operations through the U.S. Departments of Agriculture and the Interior.
- The resolution allows for up to $658 million in additional funding for the Department of Health and Human Services’ Health Care Fraud and Abuse Control Program.
- It also permits up to $2.124 billion for Social Security continuing disability reviews, eligibility redeterminations, cooperative disability investigation units and fraud prosecutions.
- Another provision allows up to $400 million for state grants that provide reemployment services and eligibility assessments for unemployment compensation recipients.
The resolution also includes language stating that its provisions will govern House and Senate budget procedures as Congress works through the fiscal year 2027 appropriations process.
The measure serves as a budget blueprint rather than a spending bill. Individual appropriations legislation funding federal agencies and programs will still require separate consideration and approval by Congress before becoming law.
