ZANESVILLE, Ohio (AVC News) — The Eastpointe Business Park continues to grow with major infrastructure improvements and a new onsite medical facility aimed at supporting the more than 2,000 employees who work in the industrial park.
Located about 2.5 miles north of Interstate 70’s Exit 157 east of Zanesville, the approximately 1,200-acre business park is home to four Fortune 500 companies and offers interstate access, rail service and full utility infrastructure.
The Zanesville-Muskingum County Port Authority expects to complete an expansion of the Eastpointe Rail transload facility by August. The project will increase the rail spur from three tracks to five, improving freight capacity and helping attract future industrial investment. The expansion is partially funded through an $800,000 grant from the Ohio Rail Development Commission. Officials said only paving and minor electrical work remain before the project is complete.
Genesis HealthCare System has also announced plans to build the Genesis Eastpointe Health Center within the business park. The facility will provide occupational health services, including pre-employment physicals, workplace injury care and rehabilitation, allowing businesses to reduce employee downtime and improve workplace safety.
Eastpointe Business Park is home to several major employers, including Dollar General, Bimbo Bakeries, Halliburton Energy Services, Avon, AMG Vanadium and Bilco. Dollar General employs about 877 people locally, making it Muskingum County’s second-largest employer, while Halliburton and Bimbo Bakeries each employ about 450 workers at the park.
Officials say Eastpointe’s location near Interstate 70 and its rail transload capabilities continue to make it an attractive destination for manufacturing, distribution and logistics companies throughout the region.
