CAMBRIDGE, Ohio (AVC News) — As the nation prepares to mark its 250th anniversary, Guernsey County is highlighting its history, culture, and community spirit with a series of events and attractions throughout 2026.
County leaders say the celebration ties into the America 250 Ohio initiative, inviting visitors to explore local heritage while taking part in festivities across the region.
A key part of that history runs directly through the county along National Road (U.S. Route 40), the nation’s first federally funded highway. Today, the route serves as a scenic byway connecting historic sites, small businesses, and cultural landmarks.
Among featured attractions are the Mosser Glass factory—recognized as the only pressed-glass manufacturer in the United States—and the National Museum of Cambridge Glass, which houses more than 10,000 pieces showcasing the region’s glassmaking legacy.
Officials say these destinations highlight Guernsey County’s long-standing role in American craftsmanship and innovation.

- May 30: 1950s Sock Hop & Classic Car Cruise-In
- June 6: NSDAR ceremony honoring Revolutionary War patriot Christopher Brill
- July 4: Firecracker 10K & 5K Race and Cambridge City Band Concert
- July 10: Salute to America 250 event at Living Word Outdoor Drama
