SCIO, Ohio (AVC News) — A suspect was arrested in western Pennsylvania several hours after an armed robbery Monday morning at a Circle K in the Village of Scio.
According to the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the store after an employee reported that a man entered the business, held him at gunpoint and demanded money from the cash register.
The suspect reportedly fled in a dark-colored, transit-style van.
While investigating, deputies were notified by dispatch about a stolen vehicle from Tuscarawas County that matched the description of the vehicle used in the robbery.
Using Flock Safety license plate reader cameras, deputies located the suspect vehicle near Imperial, Pennsylvania.
With assistance from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and Allegany County Police Department, authorities apprehended the suspect and vehicle a few hours after the robbery.
Harrison County Sheriff Mark Touville commended the deputies involved, along with law enforcement agencies from Tuscarawas County, Jefferson County and Allegany County, for their cooperation during the investigation.
The sheriff’s office said additional information will be released once the investigation is complete.
