NEW CONCORD, Ohio (AVC News) — The Village of New Concord has named David Briggs as its new chief of police, bringing more than 23 years of law enforcement experience to the department.
Briggs most recently served as police chief for a township in the Columbus area. His career has also included law enforcement service in Perry County, Zanesville, Coshocton, South Zanesville and several other east-central Ohio communities.
Village officials said Briggs has built a reputation for community engagement, professionalism and accountability throughout his career.
His experience includes serving as a detective, patrol supervisor, K-9 handler and deputy sheriff, with expertise in criminal investigations, narcotics enforcement, crime scene management, emergency response and officer training.
Briggs is a graduate of the NCPI Police Executive and Administrative Leadership School and has received numerous professional certifications and statewide commendations for leadership, lifesaving actions and excellence in law enforcement.
Village officials said they look forward to the experience and community-focused leadership Briggs will bring as New Concord continues working to keep the village safe for residents, businesses and visitors.
