ZANESVILLE, Ohio (AVC News) — Debris collection following the recent severe storms and major flooding in Muskingum County is expected to begin on or about Aug. 19, according to county officials.
The Muskingum County Commissioners, County Emergency Management Agency and other local agencies are coordinating recovery and debris management efforts following the storm and flooding.
Residents are asked to follow posted debris placement guidelines to help cleanup crews work safely and efficiently.
Officials said debris should be placed at the edge of residents’ properties and separated by type. Appliances should be placed separately from other debris.

The Muskingum County Job and Family Services agency has also established a dedicated phone line to explain available services and provide information about disaster assistance. That number is 740-453-4538.
Donations And Volunteers
County officials are asking people who want to help avoid self-deploying as spontaneous volunteers.
While officials said the willingness to assist is appreciated, unplanned volunteer activity can interfere with coordinated recovery operations and create safety concerns. Officials said organized volunteer opportunities will be announced as they become available.
Donations are currently being distributed from the Old Roseville School, located at 76 West Athens Road in Roseville.
Monetary donations to support storm recovery are being handled by the Muskingum County Community Foundation. The foundation will distribute funds to support those most affected by the storm.
Officials said the county’s priority is helping residents, families and businesses recover safely and efficiently.
