SCIO, Ohio (AVC News) — A traffic stop in Harrison County led to the arrest of a Wintersville man after a sheriff’s deputy and his K-9 partner reportedly found suspected methamphetamine, three handguns and drug paraphernalia inside a vehicle.
According to the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Dowdle conducted a traffic stop during the evening hours of Aug. 14 in the village of Scio. The vehicle was being driven by Wesley Spencer of Wintersville and had reportedly been stopped for a failure-to-signal violation.
During the traffic stop, Dowdle deployed his K-9 partner, Sadie. Authorities said Sadie gave a positive indication for the presence of drugs inside the vehicle.
Deputies conducted a subsequent search and reported finding a bulk amount of suspected methamphetamine, three handguns and multiple items of drug paraphernalia.
Spencer was arrested and transported to the Harrison County Jail.
He is expected to face a third-degree felony charge of aggravated possession of drugs.
Harrison County Sheriff Mark Touville commended Dowdle and K-9 Sadie for their work in the investigation and seizure of the suspected drugs.
