McARTHUR, Ohio (AVC News) — Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine declared a state of emergency Tuesday in 19 counties affected by recent severe weather and flooding.
The declaration includes Morgan, Muskingum and Perry counties, along with Athens, Clermont, Gallia, Greene, Highland, Jackson, Logan, Meigs, Mercer, Montgomery, Pickaway, Pike, Preble, Ross, Van Wert and Vinton counties.
DeWine signed the proclamation Sept. 22 after meeting with local officials, first responders and residents in Vinton County, where significant flooding was reported.
The proclamation directs state departments and agencies to provide services, equipment, supplies and personnel as necessary to assist with cleanup and recovery efforts.
The Ohio Department of Transportation and Ohio State Highway Patrol will continue assisting local authorities, while the Ohio Emergency Management Agency remains engaged with county and state partners.
“We’ve seen significant flooding and damage across several Ohio counties,” DeWine said. “The state is working closely with local officials to provide the resources needed to help communities respond and recover.”
The declaration follows flooding and other severe weather impacts reported across the affected counties.
