CLARINGTON, Ohio (AVC News) — A 30-year-old Clarington man was arrested Wednesday after a two-day search involving Monroe County sheriff’s deputies, a thermal drone and K9 Odin, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

Danzig K. Williams was wanted following a domestic violence incident reported Oct. 26 in Clarington. Deputies said Williams fled the residence and ran into a wooded area when they arrived.

Deputies deployed a thermal drone and K9 Odin to search for Williams, but the initial search was unsuccessful.

On the evening of Oct. 28, deputies received information that Williams was in the area of Brey Hollow Road near Sardis. As deputies responded, they spotted Williams, who again fled on foot into a wooded area.

A thermal drone was used to locate Williams hiding near a roadside ditch. K9 Odin was then deployed, and Williams surrendered to the dog and responding deputies, according to the sheriff’s office.

Williams is being held at the Monroe County Jail on charges of violating a temporary protection order, domestic violence and strangulation.

Sheriff Derek Norman said the department takes domestic violence calls seriously and credited deputies’ persistence, training and equipment with helping bring the search to an end.

Norman also thanked the Monroe County commissioners for funding equipment and training used by deputies during arrests, saying those resources help make incidents safer for everyone involved.

The charges are allegations, and Williams is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
