NOBLE COUNTY, Ohio (AVC News) — Three people have been arrested on drug-related charges in Noble County following separate incidents involving sheriff’s deputies and investigators, according to Sheriff Jason Mackie.
The first arrest occurred Oct. 9, when Deputy Schockling was patrolling State Route 147 and observed a vehicle driven by Chassy Roberts, 39, of Senecaville, traveling eastbound and committing multiple marked-lanes violations.
According to the sheriff’s office, before initiating a traffic stop, Schockling saw a white baggie thrown from the driver’s-side window. The baggie was later recovered and reportedly contained suspected methamphetamine. Deputies also found an additional crystal-like substance inside the vehicle.
During the stop, Roberts reportedly admitted to possessing fentanyl concealed in her body and voluntarily retrieved a baggie containing the substance.
Roberts was taken to the Noble County Jail and charged with two counts of possession of drugs, fifth-degree felonies, and two counts of tampering with evidence, third-degree felonies.
On Oct. 13, deputies arrested 52-year-old Mervin Winland on a warrant charging him with trafficking in drugs. The warrant stemmed from a controlled narcotics purchase in which Winland allegedly sold narcotics to sheriff’s investigators earlier this year.
Following Winland’s arrest, investigators executed a search warrant at his residence in the Seneca Lake area of Noble County. During the search, authorities reported finding illegal narcotics in the possession of Bridget Wamsley, 65, of Senecaville.
Wamsley was arrested and taken to the Noble County Jail. She was charged with aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a fourth-degree misdemeanor.
The charges are allegations, and the defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
