Grid Growth Ventures, a joint venture of Transource Energy LLC and FirstEnergy Transmission LLC, is developing the Grid Growth project after PJM Interconnection selected the project in February 2026. The overall project includes multiple transmission lines extending from western Ohio to Guernsey County.
Grid Growth East includes two proposed 765-kilovolt transmission lines through Pickaway, Fairfield, Coshocton, Muskingum and Guernsey counties. The eastern portion has been divided into two projects: the Adkins-West Millersport 765-kilovolt Transmission Line Project and the Conesville-Guernsey 765-kilovolt Transmission Line Project.
The Conesville-Guernsey project would consist of approximately 32 miles of overhead transmission line connecting the existing Guernsey 765-kilovolt Substation in Guernsey County with a proposed 765-kilovolt Conesville Substation in Coshocton County. Project documents identify the line as a single-circuit 765-kilovolt transmission line.
The Adkins-West Millersport project would connect proposed substations in Pickaway and Fairfield counties. Project materials currently identify that line as approximately 38 miles long.
Typical 765-kilovolt transmission structures are expected to be approximately 175 feet tall, with a typical right-of-way width of about 180 feet.
Grid Growth Ventures has said no final transmission routes have been selected. The company is currently gathering information and feedback from residents and property owners before narrowing route options. The projects will require approval from the Ohio Power Siting Board before construction can begin.
A public open house for Guernsey County is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 21, from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at the Pritchard Laughlin Civic Center and Event Space in Cambridge. Residents can review project information, speak with project representatives and provide feedback.
An additional open house is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 22, at the Muskingum County Fairgrounds in Zanesville. A Coshocton County open house is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 29, at Lake Park Pavilion.
Grid Growth Ventures is requesting public input as it evaluates potential routes. The company has asked residents to provide information about features such as historic sites, wetlands, springs and planned uses of affected properties. Public comments are being accepted through Oct. 15.
The need for additional transmission infrastructure is tied in part to projected growth in electricity demand. PJM selected Grid Growth in February 2026 to develop approximately 220 miles of new transmission infrastructure, including four 765-kilovolt lines and one 345-kilovolt line extending from the Indiana-Ohio border to Guernsey County.
