FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Ohio — A 33-year-old man accused in a fatal Fairfield County crash has been indicted on several charges, including aggravated vehicular homicide.
According to Fairfield County Common Pleas Court records, Alvaro Uribe-Gonzalez was indicted Thursday on two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide, one count of aggravated vehicular assault, one count of vehicular assault and two counts of operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, a drug of abuse or a combination of the two.
The charges stem from a September 6 crash on U.S. Route 33 that killed 23-year-old Cameron Lyon. According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Uribe-Gonzalez was traveling eastbound when he crossed into the westbound lanes and struck a vehicle driven by Lyon.
Lyon was pronounced dead at a hospital. His fiancée, who was a passenger in the vehicle, survived but suffered severe injuries.
OSHP said alcohol is a suspected factor in the crash. A judge previously set Uribe-Gonzalez’s bond at $5 million.
Additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues.
