ATHENS, Ohio—(AVC News)—Two armed suspects, wanted in a double homicide in North Carolina were found dead in their vehicle following a brief pursuit in southern Ohio Friday.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, shortly after 8 am Friday an automated license plate reader on U.S. Route 50 in Athens County, identified a suspect vehicle, the owner wanted in connection to a murder investigation in North Carolina.
State Patrol troopers and officers with the Athens Police Dept. quickly caught up with the suspect vehicle which fled as authorities attempted a traffic stop.
As the pursuit entered Ohio’s Jackson County, the suspect vehicle swerved to miss stop sticks deployed in the road and lost control, striking a road sign.
As officers approached the vehicle, two gunshots were heard coming from the vehicle.
Authorities then found two suspects, identified as 26 year old Carmyn Moore and 29 year old Corey Armstrong deceased in the vehicle with gunshot wounds.
The suspects were wanted in a deadly shooting in Gaston County North Carolina.
Reports from Gaston Co. (North Carolina) PD say authorities responded to a “shots fired” call at a Gaston County home Thursday morning. Upon arrival police found four people suffering gunshot wounds, two of which were pronounced dead at the scene. The two suspects, Moore and Armstrong, also residents of that home, fled the scene and became the primary suspects in the investigation.
