PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania—(AVC News)– The National Weather Service Office in Pittsburgh has issued a FLOOD WATCH for much of East Central, Southeast and Southern Ohio, from Saturday afternoon through late Saturday night.
The NWS says FLASH FLOODING may occur due to predicted heavy railfall in the region, especially in areas already saturated from previous storms.
Forecasters are predicting heavy rain late morning on Saturday into the afternoon hours along with the chance of scattered thunderstorms.
The excessive rainfall runoff may result in flooding of rivers, streams, creeks and low lying, flood prone areas.
Counties in the FLASH FLOOD WATCH include; Belmont, Guernsey, Monroe, Muskingum, Noble, Perry, Morgan, Athens. Washington, Jackson. Vinton, Meigs and Gallia.
Residents should be alert for changing weather conditions on Saturday and listen for updates, including the issuance of any additional weather watches and warnings.
And remember, if you do encounter high water on the roadway: TURN AROUND, DON’T DROWN.
