CALDWELL, Ohio (AVC News) — The Downtown Revitalization Project surrounding the Noble County Courthouse is entering its final phase.
Dave Dillingham, project supervisor for Rullin Construction, told the Noble County Commissioners that a wall identifying the Noble County Courthouse is being constructed in front of the building. Work began Thursday, Aug. 27.
Dillingham said crews still need to seed the grounds on all four sides of the courthouse and complete remaining sidewalk work. Landscaping is expected to begin the week of Sept. 7.
In other business, Noble County Health Department officials updated commissioners on efforts to seek funding through a Rural Health Transformation Chronic Disease Prevention and Management grant.
Health Commissioner Kirby Moore, Director of Nursing Shari Rayner and Director of Environmental Health Morgan Rayner said the county ranks high statewide in several health categories, including hypertension, high cholesterol, obesity, strokes, diabetes and diabetes-related mortality.
Officials also reported confirmed cases of measles in neighboring counties. A drive-thru flu shot clinic is scheduled for Oct. 4 at the Noble County Health Department.
Meanwhile, Kirsten Roman of the Noble Soil and Water Conservation District asked commissioners for a letter of support for a grant application seeking funding for a new handicap-accessible boat ramp and adaptive canoe and kayak launch at Caldwell Lake.
