CALDWELL, Ohio (AVC News) — A 64-year-old Caldwell man was arrested Sunday after deputies say he repeatedly struck another man in the head with a baseball bat during an altercation at a Caldwell apartment complex.
According to the Noble County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to the complex after a 911 call reported an urgent disturbance.
When deputies arrived, they found a victim lying on the ground, badly bleeding after allegedly being assaulted. Medical personnel evaluated the victim at the scene for potentially serious injuries before the victim was taken to a hospital for further evaluation.
Investigators said the incident began when Charles Sexton arrived at the door of a neighboring apartment carrying a baseball bat and confronted the victim over behavior Sexton allegedly did not like.
The confrontation escalated, authorities said, with the victim being struck repeatedly on or about the head with the bat.
Deputies located Sexton at his apartment, where he was taken into custody without incident.
Sexton was transported to the Noble County Jail and charged with one count of felonious assault, a second-degree felony.
