CALDWELL, Ohio (AVC News) — Noble County voters will have eight local levies to consider when they head to the polls for the Nov. 3 general election.
According to Chelsea Cline, director of the Noble County Board of Elections, the measures include three countywide levies, four township levies and one village levy.
The first countywide measure is a senior citizens levy, a renewal of 0.4 mills with an increase of 0.2 mills. Revenue from the levy would be used to provide and maintain senior citizen services and facilities throughout Noble County.
Funding would support programs and services including the Noble County Senior Nutrition Program, medical escort and transportation services, and maintenance and operation of the Noble County Senior Center.
Voters will also consider a 1-mill renewal levy for the Ohio Cooperative Extension Service. Revenue would support programs involving 4-H, agriculture and natural resources, home economics and economic development.
The third countywide measure is an additional 0.5-mill levy for 911 services. The funding would help maintain and operate 911 systems and dispatching services in Noble County.
Noble County Sheriff Jason Mackie said the additional funding would help the county remain in compliance with state-required minimum staffing levels.
Four township levies will also appear on the ballot.
Enoch Township is seeking renewal of a 2-mill levy for current operating expenses.
Noble Township is seeking renewal of a 0.5-mill levy for fire protection and emergency medical services.
Elk Township is seeking renewal of a 2-mill levy for general operating expenses.
Center Township is seeking renewal of a 0.4-mill levy for cemetery operating expenses.
Voters in the Village of Summerfield will consider a 4-mill renewal levy for current operating expenses.
In addition to the local issues, Ohio voters will consider a proposed constitutional amendment that would add voter identification requirements to the Ohio Constitution.
The general election is scheduled for Nov. 3.
