PEARL HARBOR, HAWAII—(AVC News)—December 7, 1941, “a date which will live in infamy.”
December 7, 2025 is National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, a day reserved to honor and rember those killed or injured during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, which led to the U.S. entry into World War II.
Each year on December 7, Pearl Harbor Survivors, veterans, and visitors from all over the world come together to honor and remember the 2,403 service members and civilians who were killed during the attack, A further 1,178 people were injured in the attack, which permanently sank two U.S. Navy battleships (the USS Arizona and the USS Utah) and destroyed 188 aircraft.
In August 1994, the United States Congress designated December 7 as National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. Every year, remembrance events are held at the Pearl Harbor National Memorial, culminating in a commemoration ceremony on December 7.
In the years since those dark days, President Trump has pointed out that the Japanese “have become a loyal ally to the U.S. and trusted friend. Japan and the U.S. now share a close partnerships.” He adds, “united by commerce, history, culture, and mutual respect, this is a testament to the transformational power of peace, diplomacy, and democracy.”
December 7, 2025 marks the 84th Anniversary of the Pearl Harbor attack, Numerous memorial ceremonies are taking place at Pearl Harbor over three days. According to the Pearl Harbor Commemoration website, remembrance of the attack highlights the importance of remembering that moment in the past when the prospects for peace was shattered and our nation was plunged into global war, while at the same time, looking forward with gratitude, optimism and determination to recognize and embrace the opportunities to establish and cultivate a brighter future.
