BELPRE, Ohio (AVC News) — A 77-year-old man was arrested after Washington County deputies executed a search warrant at Belpre Civitan Park on Aug. 21 as part of an investigation into alleged child pornography.
According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, detectives interviewed James Edward Beichler, whose address is listed as homeless. Investigators said Beichler allegedly admitted to possessing child pornography.
A preliminary search of Beichler’s cellphone reportedly revealed child pornography, including material depicting the rape of prepubescent children, according to investigators.
Detectives also reported finding evidence that Beichler had secretly recorded and photographed women and children in public.
Beichler was arrested and taken to the Washington County Jail. He is charged with pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor, a second-degree felony.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities said additional charges are possible.
