CALDWELL, Ohio (AVC News) — A $3.9 million renovation project surrounding the Noble County Courthouse is nearing completion, with a project walk-through scheduled for Friday, Oct. 16, at 1 p.m., weather permitting.
Caldwell Mayor Misty Wells informed the Noble County commissioners of the scheduled walk-through. The project includes new sidewalks around the courthouse square, brick and decorative stone walls on all four sides of the courthouse, decorative lighting and landscaping around the building.
Ruhlin Construction served as the general contractor, with Dave Dillingham as project manager. The Village of Caldwell obtained grant funding for the project through Gov. Mike DeWine’s office. Wells also told commissioners the village holds a warranty from the landscaping company.
During the meeting, Chelsea Cline, director of the Noble County Board of Elections, reported that the board had received 667 votes through mail, in-office voting, hand delivery and overseas voting as of the end of the day Oct. 8. Cline said the total was in line with figures from 2022.
Cline also noted that three parking spaces are available in front of the courthouse on West Street — two for early voting and one for curbside voting. She reminded voters that a ballot drop box is located in front of the courthouse doors.
Wells, who also serves as executive director of Noble County Job and Family Services, told commissioners she had renewed a one-year contract with Buckeye Transit to meet the department’s transportation needs. She also said she wants to hire a children’s services worker.
Commissioners also met with Bob Donnolly and Mickie Range of Keystone Insurance and Stephanie Parsons of Key Benefits to discuss the county’s upcoming health insurance renewal.
