TUSCARAWAS COUNTY, Ohio (AVC News) — One person was killed and another seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle in Warren Township, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 12:30 p.m. Saturday on State Route 212 east of Tabor Ridge Road.
According to the patrol’s New Philadelphia Post, 73-year-old James H. Goodmote Jr. of Rootstown was riding a red 2012 Harley-Davidson Street Glide 103 eastbound when a westbound 2006 Honda Civic driven by 32-year-old Corey Fisher of Dover crossed the center line and struck the motorcycle.
The motorcycle went off the right side of the roadway, struck a guardrail and slid down an embankment. The Honda spun off the left side of the roadway and also struck a guardrail.
Goodmote was pronounced dead at the scene. The patrol said he was not wearing safety equipment.
Fisher suffered serious injuries and was transported to Aultman Hospital by Smith Ambulance. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. The patrol said impairment is believed to be a factor, and the crash remains under investigation.
