Disaster Recovery Centers Opening In Ohio Counties Affected By August Storms

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AVC News) — Disaster Recovery Centers are opening this week to help Ohio residents affected by severe weather in August access federal disaster assistance.

President Trump has approved a Presidential Major Disaster Declaration for seven Ohio counties: Clermont, Franklin, Hamilton, Licking, Morgan, Muskingum and Perry.

Homeowners and renters in the affected counties are encouraged to apply for federal assistance through DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling the FEMA Helpline at 1-800-621-3362.

Recovery specialists at the Disaster Recovery Centers can help residents check the status of applications and explain available recovery programs.

“Residents visiting the Disaster Recovery Centers can learn about available resources and assistance,” said Sima Merick, executive director of Ohio Emergency Management Agency. “I strongly encourage anyone with losses in the impacted areas to visit a DRC to learn what help is available.”

Three Disaster Recovery Centers will serve the affected counties:

Franklin County: Reynoldsburg Community Church, 1636 Graham Road, Reynoldsburg. The center will serve Franklin and Licking counties.

Perry County: William H. Barker Community Center, 13047 Karl Brown Road, Roseville. The center will serve Perry, Morgan and Muskingum counties.

Hamilton County: Hamilton County Central Campus, 1701 Patricia McCollum Way, Cincinnati. The center will serve Hamilton and Clermont counties.

The centers will operate through Nov. 1 on the following schedule:

  • Oct. 7: noon to 8 p.m.
  • Monday through Friday: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Saturday: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Sunday: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The first operating period runs Oct. 7-11, followed by Oct. 12-18, Oct. 19-25 and Oct. 26-Nov. 1.

Additional information about federal disaster assistance is available through FEMA and Ohio EMA.
