CALDWELL, Ohio (AVC News) — Students in the Caldwell Exempted Village School District will once again receive free breakfast and lunch during the 2026-27 school year.
The Caldwell Board of Education voted during its July 15 meeting to continue participating in the federal Community Eligibility Provision, allowing all students to receive meals at no cost regardless of family income.
Superintendent Ryan Lemley said the district has seen improvements in student attitudes and academic performance since offering free meals to all students.
The board also approved lease agreements with Family Tree Dental and Genesis Primary Care Physicians, along with an equipment agreement with Genesis HealthCare System.
Board members set athletic ticket prices for the upcoming school year at $8 for adults and $6 for seniors and visiting students for varsity events. Annual sports passes will cost $200 for adults and $150 for seniors and visiting students, while family duo passes covering all sports seasons will be available for $350 for residents of the same household.
The board established substitute pay rates of $125 per day for teachers with bachelor’s degrees, $105 per day for those without bachelor’s degrees, $13.09 per hour for classified substitutes, and $17.50 per hour for substitute mechanics and bus drivers.
Members also approved several coaching and volunteer appointments for the upcoming athletic seasons, accepted the resignations of Katie Conaway and Brooke Black, and appointed Debbie Hall to the Caldwell Public Library Board of Trustees.
