Thornville Man Excluded From Ohio Sports Gaming After Threats Against Blue Jays Manager

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AVC News) — An Ohio man has been placed on the state’s Sports Gaming Involuntary Exclusion List after making threats against Toronto Blue Jays manager John Schneider related to sports betting on the 2025 Major League Baseball World Series.

The Ohio Casino Control Commission voted Wednesday, Oct. 21, to add Blake Morgan of Thornville to the list, which prohibits individuals from entering sports gaming facilities in Ohio or participating in the state’s sports gaming activities.

According to the commission, Morgan threatened violence or harm against Schneider on or about Oct. 28, 2025, while Schneider was managing the Blue Jays during the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Investigators determined the threats were connected to sports wagers on World Series games.

Major League Baseball notified the commission about the incident and assisted the investigation by providing witness testimony and evidence used in the decision to exclude Morgan.

“Sports gaming should be conducted responsibly, and any act that threatens harm or violence against sports participants because of wagering will not be tolerated,” said Andromeda Morrison, interim executive director of the commission.

Morrison said MLB’s cooperation was instrumental in bringing the matter before the commission and that the agency remains committed to protecting the integrity of sports gaming in Ohio.

The Sports Gaming Involuntary Exclusion List is intended to prevent individuals whose conduct violates state law from participating in sports gaming or entering sports gaming facilities.

More information about the list is available through the Ohio Casino Control Commission, which regulates the state’s casinos, skill-based amusement machines, fantasy contests and sports gaming.
