SOUTHEAST Ohio (AVC News) — Residents across Southeast Ohio have multiple locations available to safely dispose of old, unwanted or unneeded prescription medications as part of efforts to prevent prescription drug misuse and addiction. Events will run on Saturday, October 24th starting at 10:00 AM.
The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) warns that unused prescription medications can pose a public safety risk, particularly when they are accessible to others in the home. Medications taken without a prescription or medical supervision can be dangerous, and many people who misuse prescription drugs obtain them from family members or friends.
DEA National Prescription Drug Take Back Day events provide opportunities for people to dispose of unneeded medications. Residents can also find medication disposal locations throughout the year at participating pharmacies, hospitals, police departments and other businesses.
