Byesville, Ohio (AVC News) — Rolling Hills Local School District officially unveiled its newly renovated K-12 campus Wednesday during a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house, marking the culmination of a project first envisioned in 2021.
The new campus brings Meadowbrook Preschool, kindergarten, middle school and high school together in one location, providing updated facilities and learning spaces for students throughout the district.
The project represents a $63 million investment in the Rolling Hills school district. Funding was made possible through the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission, along with a tax agreement involving the Guernsey Power Station.
Wednesday’s ribbon-cutting ceremony was held in the district’s newly renovated auditorium and included the national anthem and school alma mater performed by Brook Singers, musical selections from the Meadowbrook High School band and remarks from school board members and Superintendent Devvon Dettra.
A moment of silence was also held in memory of longtime district supporter and board member Dennis Dettra.
The ceremony included a video presentation highlighting the new campus and the improvements made throughout the district.
Among the most significant additions is the Student Health and Athletic Center, or SHAC, which includes a new wrestling room, an updated weight room and a two-court gymnasium. The facility provides views overlooking the Meadowbrook Colts football field.
The preschool and elementary portions of the campus feature classrooms equipped with new technology and common areas designed to provide students with comfortable and modern learning environments.
The middle and high school areas received improvements including better lighting, modern equipment and additional space. The campus also includes a new performing arts center and updates to the existing high school gymnasium.
The district’s new facilities are the result of a multiyear effort that began with the initial vision in 2021. Groundbreaking took place in 2023, leading to the completion and official unveiling of the campus in 2026.
The district has characterized the project with the message: “Built for Every Student. Built for the Future.”
The open house gave students, families, staff, community members and other guests an opportunity to see the completed facilities firsthand.
