WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ohio (AVC News) — The Washington County Sheriff’s Office has announced the formation of a new Mounted Unit.
Members of the unit are volunteers who provide and care for their own horses. The Mounted Unit will focus on community outreach, public relations and participation in special events throughout Washington County.
According to the sheriff’s office, the unit’s mission is to help protect the community while preserving the tradition of mounted law enforcement.
The Marietta Community Foundation is accepting donations to help the volunteer unit purchase equipment and gear needed to carry out its duties. Donations will help support the Mounted Unit as its members work to “Protect and Serve” the community.
