ZANESVILLE, Ohio (AVC News) – A Zanesville man has been sentenced to 58 years in prison for kidnapping and assaulting a woman while capturing it on video.
fifty-eight-year-old David Formentini pleaded guilty to multiple counts of domestic violence, strangulation, kidnapping, and felonious assault in Muskingum County Common Pleas Court.
The case began June 21, 2026 when Muskingum County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of death threats Formenti imposed against the victim and her dog.
Deputies found the victim outside the residence with multiple injuries. Investigators obtained an 8 hour and 24 minute video documenting the kidnapping and repeated assault using a hammer and wooden table leg.
At sentencing, Judge Gerald Anderson learned Formentini has a history of violence against women with more than 16 assault cases in Illinois and seven assault cases in North Carolina in a 35-year period.
Judge Anderson sentenced Formentini to a minimum sentence of 58 years in prison.
