WASHINGTON, D.C. (AVC News) — The U.S. Department of Agriculture and NASA are partnering to improve agricultural data and expand access to advanced technology for American farmers and ranchers.
Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins and NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman signed a memorandum of understanding Oct. 24 outlining how the agencies will work together.
The partnership will focus on combining satellite and Earth observation data, geospatial analysis and statistical methods to improve agricultural statistics and support the USDA’s efforts to modernize its data and technology systems.
The agencies also plan to explore ways to use remote sensing, modeling, geospatial data engineering and machine learning to improve agriculture, monitor the environment and support human health.
The collaboration builds on a long-standing relationship between the agencies. New efforts to expand cooperation began in December 2025 following President Donald Trump’s executive order on maintaining American leadership in space.
