BYESVILLE, Ohio–(AVC News)–A major shakeup involving the Meadowbrook Bingo program and construction delays impacting the upcoming volleyball season.
During Thursday’s Rolling Hills School Board meeting, the board unanimously approved to pull all of the districts’ name, likenesses and images from the Meadowbrook Bingo Program. This rare and unusual move essentially strips the program of their affiliation with the district and could jeopardize the programs’ 501(c)(3) tax exempt status.
Superintendent Devvon Dettra tells AVC News that the board action was in response to rumors and other mounting concerns about the programs’ handling of finances. Dettra added that the bingo programs’ board has ignored repeated requests for financial information despite their policy to submit routine financial reports. Dettra noted the district has received little or no financial information over the past three years. The design of the program is to provide funds, through the booster organization, to support the athletic and music programs of the district.
Superintendent Dettra stresses that this revocation of name/image/likeness is in no way an allegation of wrongdoing. He added, “we just want the public to feel comfortable and confident when participating in the bingo program and ensure proper use of the districts’ name/image/likeness.”
AVC News has reached out to the bingo program organizers for comment, but at the time of publication, has not received a reply.

In other matters, it was reported that construction delays at the high school will impact the upcoming volleyball season. Superintendent Dettra says that delays in the gymnasium heating and cooling system means the Meadowbrook volleyball schedule will need to be adjusted. He says some early home games will be changed to away games while others will take place at the Meadowbrook Middle or Elementary Schools.
