Richard “Jeff” Ball, 57 of Cambridge
Richard “Jeff” Ball, 57, of 11862 Old National Road, Cambridge, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at his home.
Richard, known as Jeff to friends and family, was born on October 17, 1968, son of the late Charles E. Ball and the late Clara Jane (Lucas) Ball of Cambridge.
Jeff attended Ohio University Eastern and worked for several years at WHIZ-FM radio in Zanesville. He was an avid record collector with avant knowledge of music. Jeff had a sharp intelligence, a great sense of humor, an amazing boisterous laugh, loved good conversation, and was an expert on current affairs and pop culture. He felt deeply the wrongs of this world and channeled his outrage into decades of dedicated caregiving for his late mother and his sister Susan.
Jeff was always uplifting and supportive in a way that inspired people. His classmates called him”Baller”. His kindness, wit, humor and outgoing enthusiasm were present in his school spirit as the Buckeye Trail mascot.
Jeff was preceded in death by his sister Lisa J. Ball of Cambridge and his brother Charles “Randy” Ball of Cadiz, Ohio.
He is survived by sisters Susan L. Ball of Cambridge and Sharon Y. Ball of upstate New York, by brother Timothy Wayne Ball of Los Angeles, California, and by cousins Carole Ball Wilkey and Juanita Ball of Cambridge. Survivors also include Vicki Tolliver of Barnesville and numerous other family members there.
